Why You Should Take a Load Off, Relax Release and Let Go

To find people who are working hard for the money is common.  Most every business person puts their nose to the grindstone to accomplish business goals.  After all, you have to put forth effort and work towards your goals, right?  Yes, it is agreed that you do have to work towards your goals in order to reach them but plowing through your work without a break creates high levels of stress.  You might argue that stress is an inevitable part of life and it is.  In fact, without some stress nothing would get done.  Healthy levels of stress help you to stay motivated and to push towards goals.  The question is how much stress increases productivity and when does stress levels become detrimental to productivity.  Allow too much stress and the potential for burnout is real.  The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) reports that those that feel overworked and stressed to the point of nervousness, unhappiness, and sickness make up 40% of the workforce.

Relax Release Renew

The answer to managing stress and keeping it from reaching levels that are detrimental to productivity is to take time out of your busy work schedule to relax, release and let go.  Split your work hours up in a way that allows you to take a 15 minute break for coffee or juice to relax and refresh your mind.  Take one day a month to do nothing but the things that relaxes you.  Relaxing helps you to clear your head and to revisit your work with untangled thoughts and a new perspective.  Relaxing and clearing your mind helps you to let go of things that you find yourself wrestling with. After focusing on a problem the brain needs to disengage and relax before an “Aha” moment can come forth.  With a clear mind you can go back to work with a renewed ability to prioritize the issues that you were struggling with and to map out new paths.

Relaxing Activities Are Not A Waste of Time…

If you are a true workaholic then it will be very difficult to take time out to relax without thinking that you are wasting time.  Don’t fall into that pit.  It will only cause stress and the time that you have taken to relax would definitely be wasted.  Also, don’t defeat the purpose of taking the time out to relax by worrying about work issues.

Conclusion

Incorporate time to relax and unwind into your daily schedule and start onto the road of less stress, a healthier life and more productivity.  On one of your 20 minute breaks from your work, take the time to Google search "relaxation exercises."  The search engine results pages will give you plenty of websites with relaxation exercises to choose from.  Investing in relaxation techniques and time to relax is investing in your business.  Enrich and improve the time that you spend with your nose to the grindstone by making the commitment to spend time relaxing.
