Gratitude and Success for the Entrepreneur

It is easy to feel lack.  Nevertheless, gaining success comes from adopting feelings of gratitude and not lack.

The easiest thing to do as you start your day is to feel that you don’t have enough.  Perhaps you feel that you don’t have enough money or enough contacts that you need to start some venture that you could start if you would just have enough!

Don’t be too hard on yourself for your feelings of lack.  The feeling of lack is cultivated in us daily.  Marketing efforts are increasingly made to make us think that we don’t have enough.  Commercials specifically cultivate a feeling of lack so that we can buy more.  We live in a society that always wants more and that’s okay.  However we don’t get more by nursing feelings of lack we get more by nursing feelings of gratitude.

Famous Entrepreneurs and Gratitude

Very famous entrepreneurs credit the feeling of gratitude with much of their success.  Zig Ziglar, a very successful sales professional turned motivational speaker, coined the phrase “Have an attitude of gratitude.”  He has gone on the record to say that “the more you recognize and express gratitude for the things you have, the more things you will have to express gratitude for.”  Another successful entrepreneur that has gone on the record to sing the praises of having the feelings of gratitude is Oprah Winfrey.  Oprah has gone on the record to say that keeping a gratitude journal is the single most important thing that she has done.  She has stated that “if you concentrate on what you have you will always end up with having more, even if it’s just two dollars.  If you focus on what you don’t have you will never ever have enough.”  Her instructions to us is that we should keep a gratitude journal.  Her daily habit for the last sixteen years has been to write down five things that she is thankful for.  She stresses that you have to write these things down instead of just saying them because she states that “there is power in the words.”  She instructs you to go through the day taking note of things that you can be thankful for until you reach five things that you can be grateful for.  You are to then write these things down in your journal at the end of the day.  She asserts that once you start to feel gratitude in the now “the spiritual dimension of your life begins to change” and you just grow with it.  She has stated exactly “If you want to change your state of being start to be grateful.”

Not So Famous Entrepreneurs

There are entrepreneurs that are not as famous as Zig Ziglar and Oprah Winfrey that have shared that they attribute their success to adopting feelings of gratitude.  Tammy Haw-Bridges at http://perfectmarketingequation.com/entrepreneurs-gratitude-will-grow-your-business/ shares that at one point the most she had made as an entrepreneur was $1200 in a month until she adopted the practice of keeping a gratitude journal.  At the end of the first month that she kept the journal her earnings grew to $8,700 for the month.

Conclusion

Feelings of gratitude can be credited for many positive outcomes.  People who are grateful are happier.  Even on days when they are not as successful they are able to put it all into perspective hence creating the feelings that attract success.   Customers appreciate you more when you express gratitude for their business.  Employees produce more when they feel that they are appreciated.  Feelings of gratitude dispel destructive emotions like covetousness, malice and self-indulgence.   Feelings of gratitude bring about positive results.  Begin to incorporate this powerful emotion into your life and join the ranks of other entrepreneurs that have benefited from its power.
