The Best Free Traffic Sources

Traffic, traffic, traffic.  There is no wonder why generating traffic to a website preoccupies the minds of most blog and website owners.  The more traffic you generate the greater the possibility of generating income.

There are many different ways of generating free traffic to your website.  I am going to list some of them in the following paragraphs.

Document Sharing Site


You could drive a lot of traffic to your site by uploading documents to a document sharing site.  This is a powerful way of generating traffic.  The information that you share does not have to be original information.  You could even use a blog post that you have created.  Take the blog post or some other content that you have created, save it in the form of a PDF and upload it.  Traffic will be directed to your site automatically.  Three recommended document sharing sites are:

Commenting on Blogs


If you visit a blog that gets a lot of traffic, make sure that you leave a comment with your link included.  Search for top blogs in your niche.  If your comment is helpful and catchy chances are that people will link to your site. 

Guest Blogging


Guest blogging takes quite a bit of effort nevertheless it is worth doing.  You would have to come up with high quality blog content in order to be considered by a popular site.  Contact the owners of top blogs in your niche and ask them if they would like to publish the content that you have written.  In return for providing content you would ask that a link to your blog or website be included.  This is a really good way to generate traffic and to earn quality back links.

Image/Photo Sharing Traffic


There are quite a few image sharing sites.  Flickr.com, 500 px, and Dayviews are three image sharing sites that you can try out.  You can get a full list of image sharing sites at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_photo_sharing_websites.  These sites allow you to post images, from any niche, accompanied by a link to your blog or website.

Traffic from Pinterest


It has been said that Pinterest drives more traffic to blogs than Twitter.  Pinterest also generates more referral traffic than Google+, Linkedin and YouTube combined.

Coupon Directories


If your business offers coupons then you should take advantage of coupon directories.  Coupon directories get huge amounts of traffic every day.  People love to use coupons to get discounts.  Note the success of Groupon.com. 

Traffic from Tutorial Sites


If you have a website that is related to SEO, Wordpress, marketing, programming, or graphic design then tutorials would be a great way to get thousands of visitors to your site.  Some popular tutorial sites are:

Traffic from Question and Answer Sites

Traffic from Press Releases


You can get thousands of visitors to your site by publishing press releases.  Any time that your company does something newsworthy publish a press release.  There are plenty of free press release sites that will publish your press release.  Free press releases will get you some exposure however if you want to have your press release distributed to thousands of news sites then a paid press release site like Prweb.com, will be a better choice.
